Much of breast shape is genetically determined, but over the years, factors such as pregnancy and nursing or weight loss can take their toll on female breast shape. As the skin loses its Breast Lifts by Doctor Nathan Leigh elasticity or volume, the breasts will often lose shape and firmness and begin to sag.

Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and re-shape sagging breasts. (No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.) Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple, and reposition the nipple. If your breasts are small, or have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, breast implants may be inserted in conjunction with mastopexy to increase both firmness and size.
